Now in May 2022, it will block it immediately at the installation, hence the error "missing socialclub.dll" at the file checkup and the " SC1 Missing dll" at the game startup. Windows Defender didn't block the socialclub.dll at the installation when I installed it few month back, but somehow decided to block the dll file a few months later. I've never had an issue before, been playing for a month or two then stopped playing for like a month ago, and then, couldn't launch the game back. The symptoms of a missing or blocked socialclub.dll in 2022 are : " SC1 Missing dll.

The only good fix in my case, was to reinstall the whole game. The Windows Defender "restore" method like you suggested didn't work for me. The socialclub.dll file was still visible in the explorer, hence my astonishment when seeing this error. In my case, Windows Defender didn't delete but simply blocked it. Windows defender did do his dirty work in silence for me too (May 2022) However, it's not convenient and I run into a lot of problems using Bottles and Lutris in one way or another. You're a champ. Replacing the CreamAPI steam_api.dll within the bottleĪnd it works. Installing the game on that version of Steam I should mention that I've tried using Bottles by: Steam has another steam_api.dll (on the particular Steam version included with the Deck) which is not being properly replaced by the simple winedll commands I've listed above. Steam is closed or suspended in the background on the Deck and therefore CreamAPI's dll is not hooking into Steam (this doesn't seem likely as other games use Steam to run things like multiplayer) I think what is going on here is that either: The dll that CreamAPI produces interacts with Steam (by replacing the game's default steam_api.dll) in order to unlock the DLC WINEDLLOVERRIDES="steam_api=n steam_api_o=n" %command%ĬreamAPI, as far as I understand, works under the assumptions: I've done some research (mostly from /u/-Thunderfox 's posts on here) which revolve around overriding steam_api.dll with the one produced by CreamAPI. So I've been trying to see if CreamAPI will work on the Steam Deck and I've had no luck so far.
